EUPEX (European Pilot for Exascale) is hosting a webinar on the flexibilities of wavelets in BigDFT as a computational basis set for large-scale electronic structure calculations on 29 October 2025. Launched in 2005, the BigDFT project investigates Daubechies wavelets as a basis for Kohn–Sham density functional theory (DFT). It offers a combination of flexibility, performance, and precision, enabling DFT computations on systems with thousands of atoms with computational costs increasing linearly with system size. BigDFT is also a prominent application within the MaX Center of Excellence for Materials at the eXascale, showcasing advanced computational tools in Solid-State Physics, Quantum Chemistry, and Materials Science.
EUPEX aims to create a European pre-exascale supercomputer prototype and foster connections within the European HPC community, supporting researchers and applications in preparing for the upcoming generation of ARM-based systems.
