Meet Quantum Computer VLQ

Online NCC Czechia QC

An online session introducing the new quantum computer VLQ, operated by IT4Innovations, will be organized on 27 October 2026 by IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center and Technical University of Ostrava.

This online session introduces VLQ, the new quantum computer operated by IT4Innovations, and offers a closer look at the technology behind it. We will explore the system's main components, explain the basic principles of how it works, and highlight the key differences between quantum and conventional computing. The session will also provide a behind-the-scenes look at the acquisition and installation of VLQ, along with insights from its first period of operation.

The second part of the session will focus on how to obtain computing time on the system. It will introduce available access opportunities, explain who can apply for computational resources, and outline the main routes and procedures for gaining access to VLQ. The Python package Quantum-as-a-Service (QaaS) will also be introduced.

During the lecture, participants will be introduced to the practical use of the VLQ quantum computer to execute selected quantum circuits. These circuits will be designed using Grover’s algorithm and quantum optimization techniques to solve specific problems. The lecture will demonstrate how such quantum approaches can be applied to address concrete tasks and optimization challenges.
