The National Competence Center for High-Performance Computing in the Czech Republic is hosting an online workshop on quantum computing on 27 November 2023. The workshop will introduce two basic types of Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQA), the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE). Participants will learn how to convert real-world problems into Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) form and how to use QAOA to solve them. They will also learn about the practical applications of VQE, including solving linear systems of equations, optimizing power grids, and examples from quantum chemistry. The workshop will focus on helping attendees understand and apply these concepts to solve real-world problems.
