Last month, we worked together with the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Serbia to upgrade the UPS system of the PARADOX cluster. This was made possible through GIZ's program for workplace equipment subsidies for returning experts. Dr. Sonja Predin applied for this grant after defending her PhD thesis at the University of Regensburg and returning to the Institute of Physics Belgrade to continue her work on strongly correlated systems. Yesterday, Snežana Antonijević, GIZ's representative in Serbia, visited the Institute of Physics Belgrade. During a productive discussion, we explored opportunities for future collaboration.

The UPS system of PARADOX includes ten APC devices, which consist of three 10 kVA, one 6 kVA, three 5 kVA, and three 3 kVA output capacity devices. These devices ensure a continuous power supply for all the service nodes of PARADOX, including the storage system. Some of the equipment is installed in a separate computing rack, which will be equipped with brand new nodes arriving in November as a part of the major upgrade of PARADOX cluster, PARADOX v5.0.
